Courage/Encourage Information Session

The Archdiocese of Detroit is privileged to have Fr. Paul Check, National Director for Courage Apostolate, and his team of presenters conduct an information sessions about the only sanctioned Roman Catholic support group ministry for same sex attracted persons and their loved ones.

This Courage/EnCourage Apostolate Information Sessions will be held at Sacred Heart Major Seminary, Detroit on Saturday March 8th from 9:00am – 12:30pm – see write-up below and attached flyer. These sessions are being offered at no charge. You can RSVP to attend at: http://couragemin2014.eventbrite.com. Note: A separate Information Session for Priests and Seminarians only will be held on Friday March 7th.

These information sessions will explain the Catholic understanding of same sex attraction from the theological, anthropological, pastoral, and psychological perspective. There will be personal testimony of a Courage member and instruction from a PhD psychologist with clinical expertise in same sex attraction.

Please pass along this invitation to your various ministry contacts. The Courage – EnCourage Apostolate is a not widely known yet very much needed Catholic ministry for our same sex attracted (SSA) brothers and sisters and their loved ones. This is a MUST attend event for all Catholics and those in any ministry capacity given today’s societal and media influence, and the overwhelming sense of many SSA Catholics and loved ones feeling that they are without support options or understanding for living a chaste lifestyle. All are welcome to attend.

Michigan Catholic Young Adult Conference
Registration is open for the annual MCYA conference on March 28-29.  Check out their website http://www.micyac2.org/ for more information.

UPDATE: March 28th 2020
As you are aware, the COVID-19 is a pandemic requiring a big response from everyone to alleviate the spread of the virus. As a result ALL Generation Christ activities are being canceled until further notice! However, St. Thomas do offer below personal prayer, adoration and confession times for your spiritual growth:
1. Personal Prayer: The Parish Hall is open 7 days per week from 9 a.m. - 7 p.m. for personal prayer before the Blessed Sacrament. Note that these times are slightly different than our previous schedule. 2. Friday Adoration: Adoration will cease until further notice, though we are planning a weekly Friday Holy Hour available on FacebookInstagramYoutube, and our website. We are still solidifying when this will be, but we will let you know as soon as we do. 3. Confessions: Confessions will continue in the Parish Hall:
  • Monday 2 p.m. - 4 p.m.
  • Wednesday through Saturday 2 p.m. - 4 p.m.
Please pray for all unceasingly and know of our prayers for all of you!
This is the generation of those who seek Him. -Psalm 24:6
